Compulsory PTSD!
On the 6–7 June 2026, I’m taking on the Cateran Yomp – a 54-mile hike in under 24 hours through the wilds of rural Perthshire.
It’s going to be brutal on the body, devastating to the knees, and absolutely worth every blister — because it’s all in support of the Army Benevolent Fund, the Army’s national charity. They provide lifelong help to soldiers, veterans, and their families when they need it most.
🎖️ Who are Compulsory PTSD?
Originally formed in a bar somewhere between Bastion and Basra, Compulsory PTSD is a non-operational, non-functioning, non-medically-cleared detachment of ex-servicemen held together by ibuprofen, duct tape, and dark humour.
Members are veterans of Her Majesty’s finest campaigns — including The Troubles, Telic, Herrick, and parenting.
Our motto was once “Swift and Bold”.
Now it’s “Stiff and Cold.”
Training mostly consists of swearing at Garmin watches, sweating out Buckfast, and saying “we’ve made a huge f*ing mistake” every third mile**.
