The Cateran Yomp 2024

Fundraising for the ABF - BRING IT ON, SCOTLAND!

On the 8th and 9th June 2024, along with my lovely partner in crime, Katie, we are tackling the Cateran Yomp – 54 miles in 24 hours across rural Perthshire, Scotland, in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity (the national charity of the British Army).

The event has three potential awards – bronze for completing 22 miles, silver for completing 36 miles and gold at 54 miles. Sub-24 hours for the gold is the target.  It goes without saying, we’ve signed up for gold.

We have no doubt there will be blood, sweat and tears on the day (and through the night, and into the next morning), but more importantly, and all going to plan, there will be that sense of accomplishment, overcoming what is certainly the toughest physical and mental challenge either of us have faced, while raising much needed funds for a worthy cause.

Those who know me well, will know that in 2013, having served for 23 years, I was medically discharged from the Army with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as a result of military operations in the Middle East.  The social, mental and physical impact on my life was significant; I therefore know more than most what soldiers and veterans can face as a consequence of their service, and how important it is to have charities such as ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, supporting these soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

54 miles is a long way and nothing can be guaranteed, but in sponsoring us you can rest assured that we are training hard, in the gym and on the hill, and will be attacking it on the day, with our sights firmly set on the gold.

We have self-funded entry to the event, travel and accommodation – 100% of all monies raised will therefore go to the charity.  Please give generously, and THANK YOU so much for your support.
