The Cateran Yomp 2024

Fundraising for the ABF - BRING IT ON, SCOTLAND!

On the 8th and 9th June 2024, I will be taking part in the Cateran Yomp, a 54-mile challenge across rural Perthshire, Scotland.  As always, Scott will be by my side, motivating each other to the finish line.  The event itself is in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity (the national charity of the British Army).

Completing 22 miles earns a bronze medal, 36 miles for silver and gold at 54 miles – the target time for completing the full distance is sub-24 hours.  We have our sights firmly fixed on the gold.

For those who don’t know Scott, he served 23 years in the British Army and was discharged in 2013 with PTSD following operations in the Middle East; 10 years on, he still has to manage this condition and knows more than most how important it is to have charities such as ABF The Soldiers’ Charity to support soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

It’s going to be tough and is by far the hardest mental and physical challenge either of us has faced.  No doubt there will be blood, sweat and tears on the day (and through the night, and into the next morning), but most importantly, there will be that sense of accomplishment, while raising much needed funds for a worthy cause.

We have been, and will continue to train hard, in the gym and out on the hills.  54 miles is a long way and nothing can be guaranteed, but in sponsoring us you can rest assured that we will be giving it our all on the day.

We have self-funded entry to the event, travel and accommodation – 100% of all the money raised will therefore go to the charity.  Any amount you can spare in sponsorship is appreciated and will get me that one step closer to the fundraising target.  THANK YOU so much for your support.
