The Cateran Yomp 2024

Army Benevolent Fund

On the 8 - 9 June 2024, I am taking on the Cateran Yomp. A 54-mile hike in 24 hours across rural Perthshire. This will be the longest, most challenging walk I have ever tried but I really want to do it and help others in the process.

I really enjoy walking and feel that it provides a natural break from the technologies and entertainment that we have all grown to love (and hate!). The ability to support this charity really motivates me to help those that have served our country and who need extra help following that service.

If you can help me by donating whatever you can that would be fantastic and thank you for all your support.

My Updates

6 Weeks to Go!

The preparations continue and walks getting that bit longer. Had a wider family get-together in Devon recently and provided an opportunity for some hilly walking around the south Devon coast near to Wembury. 3 days of relaxed walking but good to experience some hills.

So lucky with the weather, almost reach 16oC but dry. Let's hope Scotland is about the same in June!

9 Weeks to Go!

Really excited about this challenge and with only 9 weeks to go my preparation is starting to ramp up. Generally I tend to walk between 6-8 miles per day anyway but now I am needing to increase to longer distances without much of a break. It is certainly teasing out some areas I need to work on!

Keeping awake for 24 hours could be one my main concerns (!) but with a great team around me from Oracle then I hope we can keep each other motivated to reach Gold!

A few images from my longer walk between Braughing and Bishop's Stortford (Hertfordshire) on Monday. A few small hills to contend with but nothing like Scotland.
