Running for More Than a Medal: My Journey to the London Marathon 2026

Running the London Marathon has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. It’s one of those challenges that represents more than just 26.2 miles, it’s about commitment, resilience, and purpose. So when I found out I would be running the London Marathon 2026 in support of the Army Benevolent Fund, it felt incredibly special. An honour, truly.

The Armed Forces have always been a huge part of my life and my identity. My grandfather served in the British Army, as did my father, and I followed in their footsteps as the third generation in my family to serve. Growing up, the values of service, discipline, and looking out for one another were woven into everyday life. Those values stay with you long after the uniform comes off.

Because of that, this marathon isn’t just a personal challenge, it’s deeply personal. Running for the Army Benevolent Fund allows me to give something back to the community that has shaped my family for generations. The Fund provides lifelong support to soldiers, veterans, and their families when they need it most, whether that’s through financial assistance, rehabilitation, housing, or simply knowing someone has their back.

Veterans give so much in service to this country, often at great personal cost. Being able to fundraise for them feels like a privilege. Every mile I train, every early morning run, and every aching muscle will be driven by the knowledge that this effort contributes to something far bigger than me.

The London Marathon is known for its atmosphere, its crowds, and its ability to bring people together for incredible causes. In 2026, when I’m standing on that start line, I’ll be carrying not just my own goals but the legacy of my family and the spirit of everyone who has served. I’ll be running with gratitude, pride, and determination.

This journey is about honouring the past, supporting the present, and helping secure a better future for those who have given so much. Thank you to everyone who supports me along the way, whether through donations, encouragement, or simply cheering from the sidelines. Every bit truly means more than you know.
