Foot Patrol

The Cateran Yomp 2025

Training Update

How is the base training going? It seems to me everyone is putting their time in their own training which show commitment.

Remember though not to.over do your base. Go out and walk but enjoy it. We should always work with the slowest man and help one another. But you guys already know that I here you say.

At our age we need all the help we can get. So, if you have any ideas to.make our life easier, then speak up. Several brains are better than one.

It would be nice to invite your wife's, girlfriends who knows, maybe a few days in Scotland.

Anyway, light training training with walking, and core training, is recommended.

FOOT PATROL

Hi Warriors,

It's great to see that you have joined “Foot Patrol.” And I know together we can complete this mission of 54 miles in 24hrs and raise money for this wonderful Army Benevolent Fund.

In the Meantime.

The march takes place next June 2025, this will be no walk in the park. May I suggest we start to train together occasionally in 2025 which would give us 5 months to be ready for the Yomp.

From now until then, may I suggest you do your own training to the standard that you are at now, and slowly build up?

My suggested training method:

Long walks with rucksack, with kit. Do a benchmark walk to test yourself, then you shall know what your personal training program should comprise.

Weights,  dumbbells, shoulder raises, biceps, triceps and press ups, plus standing squats. This is good for your core training.

Running  small runs at your pace. I run 2.5 miles slowly. Just to get the heart rate going or skip for 30 minutes with fast bursts.

The above is just some suggestions, you may have your own methods, and that is great.

This is a 54 miles hike which should be completed by the team together and we should work at the pace of the slowest man. We start the event as a team and finish as a team.

It would be fantastic if we all gave suggestion and feedback, ideas. I believe there is no ‘I’ in team. Everyone should offer their advice and from that, a better solution can be sorted.

I am very proud; we are all together on this exciting adventure and I am sure it will be enjoyable. Believe it or not, it takes guts to volunteer for this tough challenge and you guys have certainly stepped up to the mark.

I salute you all.

David Golden.

Hi Dave, best wishes mate-keeping busy as always! Well done for fundraising, I take a peek at your videos, but I’m probably just as busy as you so I don’t get to watch them all. Nice you’ve found a lady happy to yomp - not many of them around! Best wishes
