Great North Run 2026 – Supporting the Army Benevolent Fund
On 13th September 2026, I'll be taking on the Great North Run to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund, the Army's national charity. My fundraising target is £400, and I've decided to make the challenge a little more interesting.
Rather than just running the half marathon, I'll be tabbing (marching/walking over distance while carrying weight) the event with additional weight.
For every £10 donated, I'll add 0.5 kg to the weight I'll carry during the run, up to a maximum of 25 kg.
That means:
£10 = 0.5 kg
£100 = 5 kg
£200 = 10 kg
£400 = 20 kg
£500 = 25 kg for the entire 13.1 miles
The Army Benevolent Fund provides lifelong support to soldiers, veterans, and their families when they need it most. Whether it's financial assistance, help with housing, mental wellbeing, or support during difficult times, the charity makes a real difference to members of the Army community.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help support this fantastic cause — and will also make my run that little bit harder!
If you're able to donate, I'd be incredibly grateful. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and for helping me raise money for such an important charity.
