An idea that back fired!!

So while eating some cheese and crackers over Christmas (as you do - dont judge!) I asked Amber if she had any plans for this year. She replied "I want to do something different and push myself a bit".

Without proper thought I mentioned the walk and that I had been thinking about doing it (This will be my first Normandy Beaches  after completing 2 Frontline walks). "Yeah, lets do it" wasn't the answer I was expecting! But here we are! 

Young and fit Pads Brat and older not so fit Veteran taking on amazing challenge for a charity that does so much for those still serving and those that are in the civilian world.

We'll be trekking 100km of the coastline stormed as part of Operation Overlord during the D-Day landings of the Second World War.

We'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWII whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today. On a personal note we are doing this for us as well, we've had a tough few years and I for one am looking forward to spending time with my eldest (as she laughs at my blisters and hobbling).

It will be a physically and emotionally tough challenge, but we're doing it all for a great cause: ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. They support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.

We are both very aware that times are tough money wise for everyone, but even if you could sacrifice the monthly cost of a *insert well known coffee brand here think of the help that could provide. 

During the past two walks I have met people that have been helped by the ABF, their stories have been heart breaking and also inspiring.
