Terms & Conditions
The Frontline Walk: The Home Front (hereinafter referred to as “The Event”) is organised on behalf of The Army Benevolent Fund (registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under Charity Number 1146420 and the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator under charity Number SC039189) having its principal office at Mountbarrow House, 12 Elizabeth Street, London, SW1W 9RB (hereinafter referred to as “ABF”).
WAIVER OF LIABILITY
In consideration of being permitted by the ABF to participate in the Event, I understand and acknowledge that by completing the registration form I am legally agreeing to the statements in the following Event Waiver and will abide by the Event rules at all time.
Risks
- I certify that I am physically fit, will sufficiently train and prepare for the Event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person or other healthcare provider. I have declared all physical or medical conditions and any medication I am currently taking whether I deem them relevant or not, and will consult a doctor if I believe there are grounds for such consultation or am asked to by the ABF.
- I acknowledge that the Event is a test of a person’s physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury and property loss.
- The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of athletes, lack of hydration, equipment, vehicular traffic, actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, journalists, Event officials, Event monitors, and/or producers of the Event. The risks are not only inherent to participants, but are also present for volunteers and support staff. I hereby assume all of the risks of participating in the Event.
- I understand that the ABF reserves the right to terminate an individual’s attempt to complete on health and safety grounds. I waive any claim for damages arising from the denial or revocation of an entry application exceeding the amount of the entry fee.
General
- I acknowledge and agree that the ABF in its sole discretion, may delay, modify, or cancel the Event if it believes the conditions on the Event day are unsafe. In the Event the Event is delayed, modified, or cancelled for any reason, including but not limited to acts of God or the elements (including without limitation, wind, fog, rain, hail, hurricane, tornado, earthquake), acts of terrorism, pandemic, fire, threatened or actual strike, labour difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, race course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control the ABF there shall be no refund of the entry fee or any other costs incurred in connection with the Event.
- I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability (AWRL) form will be used by the Event holders, sponsors and organisers and that it will govern my actions at the Event. It is further understood and agreed that this waiver, release and assumption of risk is to be binding on my heirs and assigns. This AWRL shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law. I certify that I have read this document and I understand its content.
- I understand that third parties who have not signed up to the Event will not be able to take part in any day, section or aspect of the Event without express prior consent from the ABF. This consent is not guaranteed and likely only to be given in exceptional circumstances, and on signing of the relevant waivers and conditions. I understand that any third parties will be turned away irrelevant of any costs already incurred to the party.
I assume all responsibility for damage my property, damage to vehicles or property left within vehicles and will not hold the ABF or any interested party liable for damage or loss during the Event.
Liability
- In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in the Event, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:
- Waive, Release and Discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue to me or my traveling to and from the Event, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: the ABF, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, coaches, representatives, and agents, the Event holders, Event sponsors, Event directors, Event volunteers, all state, city, town, county, and other governmental bodies, and/or municipal agencies whose property and/or personnel are used and/or in any way assist in locations in which the Event or segments of the Event take place, and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated companies, licensees, officers, directors, partners, board members, shareholders, members, supervisors, insurers, agents, employees, volunteers, and other participants and representatives (Released Parties);
- Indemnify and Hold Harmless the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of any of my actions during the Event;
- I further covenant and agree not to sue any of the Released Parties for any of the claims that I have waived, released, or discharged herein.
Medical treatment
- I hereby authorise the ABF or any of its agents, employees, volunteers, affiliates and designees, any organiser or sponsor of the Event, or any Event volunteer, to consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the Event of injury, accident and/or illness during the Event by a medical director or any of its agents, employees, volunteers, affiliates and designees, a physician and/or hospital.
- I understand that this authorisation is given in advance of any specific diagnosis, treatment, or hospital care being required, and is given to provide authority and power to render care which the above-mentioned may deem advisable in the exercise of their best judgment.
- I agree to be responsible and assume liability for any and all costs incurred as a result of my participation in the Event, not covered by my insurance, including but not limited to, medical care and treatment, ambulance services, hospital stays, and physician and pharmaceutical goods and services.
- I agree to abide by any decision on any race official as to my ability to safely complete the Event.
Media
- I understand that at the Event or related activities, I may be photographed, filmed and/or videotaped. I agree to allow my name, photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by Event holders, producers, sponsors, organisers and assigns.
- I am aware that photos will be used for public consumption and the ABF branding is recommended for group photos. Participants wearing other Charity branding or clothing deemed ‘offensive’ may not be included in group shots or may be asked to conceal said branding.
Communications and data
- I understand and agree that by submitting an online registration to participate in the Event, I am consenting to receive email and postal communications from the ABF regarding the Event and I cannot unsubscribe from these. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to ensure emails regarding my participation in the Event sent by the ABF and/or event organisers (including but not limited to email receipts, tickets and advanced notices) are received by me, and are not redirected to Spam or Junk folders or sent to email addresses I do not have access to.
- I am aware that the ABF will never sell or otherwise distribute my details to any third party, except in regards to providing health and safety data to the Event organisers for use in that respect only.

I understand that I may unsubscribe from any marketing lists I do opt in to receiving at any time, either by using the link provided in e-mails or by contacting the ABF at any time.
EVENT RULES
The Event Rules are devised both for your own safety and for the well-being of the Event as a whole. By registering to take part in The Event you are agreeing to the following conditions of entry and to any instructions given to you by the organisers, officials and marshals before, during or after the Event.
- You and your team members must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the Event to compete.
- You and your team members will pay a non-refundable registration fee of up to £50 per entrant payable to The ABF when registering. Your place is not secured until this fee is received, but if The Event is full on receipt of your fee, you will be entitled to a refund.
- Registration fees are payable as part of the online registration process. Registration fees paid by cheque should be made payable to The ABF.
- Once accepted, your place cannot be cancelled unless we receive your written request to do so, nor can you give your place to any other person as this a serious breach of health and safety, unless, in both cases, we receive written notice of the change at least 10 working days prior to registration.
- You may only defer your place in The Event once, at the discretion of the ABF. Any requests to do so must be made at least 10 working days prior to the Event.
- You will send all the sponsorship money, which you have raised, to The ABF as soon as possible after the Event end but no later than 31 March after the Event.
- Sponsorship cheques should be payable to The ABF. If for any reason you or any of your team members choose not to take up your place or the Event is cancelled, or you are not permitted to take part in the Event, all sponsorship forms and money collected must be forwarded to The ABF and will not be refunded.
- By taking part in The Event you are agreeing that if you do fundraise, you will only fundraise for The ABF. You are not allowed to give your fundraising to any other charity; this includes offline and online fundraising.
- You are not permitted to use any of the sponsor money that you may choose to raise in relation to your entry in The Event to pay for your expenses. If you do not pass all of the money that you raise to The Event you may be committing a criminal offence.
- Sponsorship cheques should be made payable to The ABF and sent to The Event, The Army Benevolent Fund, Mountbarrow House, 12 Elizabeth Street, London, SW1W 9RB.
- You and your team members are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate level of fitness to participate in The Event.
- You and your team members are taking part in The Event at your own risk.
- Prior to and during the Event you and your team members will be responsible for your own safety, you will take all reasonable care to ensure the safety of other participants and you will comply promptly with all instructions and guidelines given by the organisers and any persons acting on their behalf. You must not deviate from the official route which will be marked by The Event signage from start to finish. Signs will also indicate when you are approaching a refreshment stop.
- Some of the route will be on minor roads but these will not be traffic free. There will be marshals located on the route but they do not have the authority to stop motorists; they are there for your safety and that of other road users. Please listen and obey their instructions. All volunteers and staff involved in the Event will be clearly identifiable.
- All teams will be given an event identifier, either prior to or at registration, which must be displayed for identification at checkpoints and is your passport to refreshments on the course.
- You must complete the course within 6 hours.
- Given the nature of the terrain, only service dogs may accompany participants.
- Participants with disabilities are welcome to take part, although due to the nature of the Event we ask you to contact the organisers prior to registering.
- If a disabled person requires assistance from another person, this person must also register and participate in The Event. Registration fees may be waived at the discretion of the ABF.
