Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am thrilled to share that I will be running the London Marathon in 2025, representing the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF). After serving as an infantry officer with the Yorkshire Regiment for 18 years, this cause holds profound significance for me. The ABF, established in 1944, is the national charity of the British Army, dedicated to providing lifetime support to soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families in times of need.
The ABF’s mission resonates deeply with me, as they offer essential assistance to those who have served our nation. Their support ranges from providing financial aid to funding other charities that deliver frontline services, ensuring that soldiers and their families receive comprehensive care. In the financial year 2022/23 alone, the charity helped 70,000 people in 45 countries worldwide and funded 74 other organisations.
Participating in the London Marathon has been a long-held aspiration of mine. Although an injury prevented me from running in 2024, I am grateful for the opportunity to defer my entry to this year. As an avid long-distance triathlete, I have completed three Ironman events and am preparing for Ironman Leeds in July. This marathon represents not only a personal milestone but also a chance to give back to a community that has given me so much.
I kindly ask for your support in this endeavour. Your donations will directly contribute to the invaluable work of the Army Benevolent Fund, helping to provide assistance to those who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of soldiers, veterans, and their families.
