2025 TCS London Marathon

Greetings, and welcome to my fundraising page for the 2025 London Marathon. I am currently on a mission to complete the 6 Abbott World Majors and London is number 3 on the list!

In my quest to complete the 6 World Majors, I have done so by raising funds to support and aid Veterans in need. Keeping with this theme, I have chosen to run the London Marathon in support of the Army Benevolent Fund. The Army Benevolent Fund is the British Army's national charity, giving a lifetime of support to serving soldiers, former soldiers and their immediate families when they are in need. They offer support in six key areas: independent living, elderly care, education and employability, mental fitness, families and housing.

I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of The Army Benevolent Fund and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in 2025 London Marathon. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can by simply clicking the 'donate' button. Any amount large or small will make all the difference. Thank you in advance for your generosity!  See you at the finish line!

My Updates

My 'WHY'

I’ve had several discussions lately about my running and fundraising which have mainly centered around why I do what I do. Let me provide a little context.
I picked up running back in 2010. I went through a break up and was just generally down on myself. I didn’t like where my life was or the way I looked. One day I had enough and decided to make a change. I always HATED running. Then again, many people tend to hate the HARD things in life. Eventually I said what the hell and gave it a shot. I told myself I would give it an honest try for a month and see what happens. Much to my surprise, it stuck. It stuck so well, I picked up CrossFit as well. I slowly started seeing positive changes in my body and health and I felt GREAT! I told myself I would NEVER go back to the way I was. It was a complete change in mindset. Ever since I made that decision, positive things started happening. I met my wife, we bought a house and have built a pretty nice life for ourselves. Another bonus is running has introduced me to an amazing group of people in the both the running and CrossFit communities. Many of which will be lifelong friends. So as hard as running was in the beginning and for how much it completely sucked, I can’t say it was the worst decision I ever made. LOL
Now to the fundraising. I started getting the itch to run marathons. And not just any marathons. If you know me, it’s go big or go home. I wanted to run the majors. As much progress as I made, I quickly realized that I am not a natural born runner and am not that fast. There is no way I would qualify for the races and getting accepted via the lottery is futile. The only other way is get in via a charity and fundraise, but which one?! I was introduced to Semper Fi & America's Fund through my good friend Lee Ann Yanni. She is a Boston bombing survivor and a friend of the Fund. The next thing I know I am signing up to run Chicago and raising money to support an amazing organization. Working with Semper Fi was such a rewarding experience, I also raised funds for them when I ran Boston. I was able to see firsthand how much of an impact they have on the wounded veterans who serve our country and protect our freedom. They do the jobs many of us are not wired to do and they do it selflessly. The least I could do is support them and it was so very rewarding.
Fast forward to London. Semper Fi does not have a team for the London marathon. What the heck am I going to do? Well, the next best thing is to find a deserving service organization that benefits veterans. This led me to the Army Benevolent Fund and the ABF Fundraising Army. They support the servicemen/women of the British Army. They support serving soldiers, former soldiers and their immediate families in need. Their focus is in 6 key areas: independent living, elderly care, education and employability, mental fitness, families and housing. They graciously accepted me onto their team and I was glad to help.
Why am I saying all of this? Well, it’s easy to get on social media and ask for money. What I am finding through my interactions with people is it helps to tell my “WHY”. THIS is my WHY!
I try to put good out into the universe and focus on positivity. When I do, things tend to work themselves out. I challenge you to do the same. If you feel moved to make a donation on my behalf to this very worthy service organization, I would be honored to run the London marathon in your honor. Just click the link below. If you can’t at this time, please give this post a share. Again, every donation counts no matter how small! As always, thank you for the support and I will see you at the finish line!
