I am 51 years old and will be turning 52 before the event. I am an old veteran and served my country in the British army for 15 years. I was a very fit young soldier and a PT instructor throughout my service. The army took it's toll on me slightly and my knees are worn out. I had to have several operations on them whilst serving and in the years that followed. I was also recently diagnosed with early degenerative damage to my spine which has caused a trapped nerve that causes pain and numbness in my hands and feet.

All of this has resulted in a massive decline in my fitness and I have lost my mojo as a result. As a way of motivating myself to get fit, and as a way to help other veterans with far worse problems than me, I am going to be taking part in the Born Survivor event in September 2026.

I will keep updating my Facebook with my training progress during the next 9 months.

My fitness is at its lowest level and I struggle to run to the end of the street without walking. It's going to take a fair bit of effort to get my fitness back to a high enough standard to take part but with every donation my motivation increases.
