I'm supporting the Army Benevolent Fund to help our soldiers and their families

Being a soldier is not a normal job. It takes a special person to be away from their families on operations. And that person has offered up their life to defend our country, our sovereign and our traditions.
Yet what do they get?
Poor pay (compared to say teachers)
Poor living conditions (recent report condemned many military housing blocks)
Long periods away from families
Extreme weather conditions
Seeing close companions seriously injured or killed
Being seriously injured or killed themselves
Little thanks from our politicians
The Army Benevolent Fund supports our soldiers and their families. They have local offices across the country, all based in army barracks. Serving soldiers can seek assistance directly and in person.
Please do support my fund raising activities and please tell your friends. The more people know the more impact this fundraising can have. Please do share and please come along to my pub quizzes.

Fantastic Quiz at Royal Oak, Pett raises £361

I hosted a pub quiz last night, 15 January, at The Royal Oak, Pett. The place was heaving. All tables were booked out and most people took the opportunity to eat out in advance.
The music round raised a few wry smiles, whilst the final round "Our Survey Says" certainly mixed up the leader board.
My thanks to landlord Robin and his team for making us so welcome and to the regulars who came out to support the ABF

Just keep walkin'

So yesterday I hit the 40 mile challenge. Does that mean I'll be lazing at home? Of course not, out and about with Bonnie and Lenny this morning.

A tough one today

I decided to do the three glens today, despite the very wet condititions.
I had with me Bonnie and Lenny.
I totalled 6.5 miles and climbed over 1,200 ft. Lenny, however, covered 10.5 miles, he and Bonnie were all over the hills.

What a Difference a Day Makes

So yesterday I was being blown around on my walk, today it was glorious with the sun rising over the channel. The ground was very wet and slippery following yesterdays rain, but the walk was lovely.
Now to get my second code to crack

New Year, New Challenge

I start the year with a different style of challenge. This is both physical and mental.
The physical side only requires 40 miles of walking, but I also have to crack 10 codes along the way.
Today I completed just over 4 miles and cracked the first code - that code was tougher than I expected a real brain challenge.
Do please support my efforts to raise money for our soldiers, their families, veterans and carers. Because the ABF has lower overheads more of your donation reaches the people that need it.
