The Frontline Walk 2026: Italy 16-20 September

For Your Freedom and Ours - Monte Cassino Charity Trek

I'm taking part in the "Frontline Walk: Italy" – a 100 km trek across the mountains and valleys where the Allies broke the Gustav Line in May 1944.

At the heart of that victory stands Monte Cassino, where the Polish II Corps under Lieutenant General Władysław Anders fought four brutal assaults to capture the monastery ridge. On 18 May 1944, soldiers of the 12th Podolian Uhlans Regiment raised the Polish flag over the ruins – a moment that cost 923 dead and over 4,000 wounded and missing in just twelve days of combat.

We will walk to remember the British, Commonwealth and Polish troops who fought shoulder-to-shoulder, and to ensure the Polish sacrifice is never overlooked.

Every step also supports today’s veterans, former soldiers and their families through the Army Benevolent Fund – the British Army’s national charity.

Your sponsorship will mean a lot to me personally, and to all those who fought in the Italian Campaign. Every pound or złoty goes directly to the Army Benevolent Fund.

Thank you.
