TCS London Marathon 2027

The Redemption Run

Right, the dust has settled on London 2026 - I finished it in 7hrs 22 mins. That the benchmark and the time to beat!

Now its time for Round 2!

Last year was the chaotic origin story: six weeks notice, 3.5 weeks lost to injury, and a lot of stubbornness holding everything together (with a bit of compede and a lot of haribo!).

This year is the sequel — and this time, I actually get to train.

I’ve been given the privilege of running the 2027 London Marathon for the Army Benevolent Fund, and with eleven months to prepare, I’m aiming to do this properly. Same cause, same determination… just more time to train, and more importantly break the fundraising total set last in 2026.

For those who aren't aware, the ABF is the Army's national charity, supporting soldiers, veterans and families as well as supporting other leading charities to ensure help is there for soldiers, for life.

They help with everything from mental heath support, training and education, elderly care and housing and more besides!

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'donate' button. The more people that know about ABF, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

26 Hours. One Table. One Fundraising Challenge......

......and one long nap!! This weekend I completed a 26‑hour wargaming marathon to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund. It was long, it was fun, and I still don't know what I'm doing on the tabletop! Across the 26 hours, I played against a nice mix of forces, met brilliant people, and was reminded again how powerful this hobby can be when it brings people together for a cause. My thanks to the The Red Lion Hotel, Salisbury for providing the venue, a great space and the staff were accomodating and supportive. Thanks to everyone who donated, played, shared the event, or simply checked in to keep me awake. Your support helped turn yet another crazy idea into a success. I am well underway on the fundraising and this event has raised over £200 and counting! If you’d still like to contribute, the donation link remains open. Every pound helps the ABF continue its vital work. Thank you — and here’s to the next challenge. I even had a technical and marketing discussion to help make the next one a bigger success.....

So it begins.........

The ballot is out, so it now feels like the right time to begin training in ernest.

I've recently joined a Crossfit gym to get my fitness to a decent level, and to motivate me to do something other than cardio. We're almost 2 months in and now its time to start the running program.

Slow and steady I think is going to be the way to go......
