The Frontline Walk 2025: The Normandy Beaches

Why I am doing this...

In 2017 I invited several former British Army colleagues to join me in raising funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity.  A few months later, over a beer in Dublin (the best way to strategise and think!), the Rugby Relics were born.

I have personally lost several friends whilst on combat operations overseas, but I am not alone in this and luckily, I came home to my family safe.

The Rugby Relics are a group of British Army veterans and 'legendary' ex rugby players; and both the Army and rugby have been a huge part of our lives.  We have seen first hand the trauma that armed conflict can cause whether it be physical or emotional, that service on operations overseas can bring.  Luckily, all of us at the relics finished our army careers in one piece, but many of our former comrades and friends did not, some never returned.

As a team we wanted to do something about this and help a charity very close to all of our hearts.
And so we set ourselves a challenge to raise £100,000, a target we are on the cusp of achieving.

In October this year The Rugby Relics will be taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Normandy Beaches, walking 100km in 3 days of the coastline stormed as part of Operation Overlord during the D-Day landings of the Second World War.

We'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWII whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today.

It will be a physically and emotionally tough challenge, but we're doing it all for a great cause: ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. They support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.

Please cheer me on by making a donation towards our target.
