The Jock on the Rock

Brothers on the Western Front

We're taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front, trekking 100km following in the footsteps of those who fought on the Somme and Passchendaele battlefields during the First World War. We will be laying crosses and wreaths at various sites to commemorate the heroism of our Countrymen and more specifically those from the town of Airdrie.
We'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought so that we could remain free, whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today.
It is a physically demanding challenge but more so emotionally, a truly humbling experience, but we're doing it all for a great cause: ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. They support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.
We will be visiting various cemeteries and memorials across the 3 days of walking, therefore if your would like us to lay a cross or wreath on you behalf, please let us know, some of the sites were are visiting is as follows.
Day 1: Lochnagar Crater, The McRaes Battalion Memorial (Contalmaison), Bells Redoubt, 12th Manchesters Memorial, , Mametz Wood, Pozieres d'Ovilliers, Thiepval Memorial, Grandcourt Cemetery, The Ulster Tower, Ancre Cemetery, Newfoundland Park, Beaumont Hamel, Redan Ridge 1, 2 & 3 and Sheffield Memorial Park.
Day 2: Neuville St Vaast, Maroeuli, d'Ecoivres, Villiers Station, Ring of Remembrance at Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Zouave Valley and Vimy Ridge.
Day 3: Vancouver Corner, Poelcapelle, Paaschendale Canadian Memorial, Tyne Cot, Polygon Wood, Buttes Cemetery, Brothers in Arms Memorial, Black Watch Corner, Hooge Crater and the Menin Gate.
