So last week we set out to walk two days back to back.  The first day we covered 19 miles.  We walked around Staines moor, then along the river into Windsor, and then steps walking around Windsor.

The next morning we started in Windsor to do the Long Walk which is 2.5 miles each way.  Two thirds of the way in we got as far as the Deer Park - only to find closed off.  We the had to improvise and modify our planned route. We went via Old Windsor to meet up with a friend for a beverage.  Our walk then continued along the river back to Staines. 

This is essential training, as it mirrors what we need to do.

We have planned a punishing day next week, where we will do a full day at 25 miles.

The following week we will do another back to back.

TRAINING WALKS

This week we have done two ten mile training walks.  The first from Staines to Windsor.  The 2nd Bushy Park.  Next planned walk Virginia Waters.  Keep watching our progress.  Thanking you all who have supported us so far. Xx Kaz and Pete.

So today we walked 10.25 miles from Staines to Windsor in 26°. Taking in history and nature, plus the obligatory few pints.  Great day but showing commitment to our cause.

We did a 4 mile test run today. Another planned for Friday.

We now have a poster to display and laminate.  We will be carrying a laminated one around with us, displaying our individual QR codes.  

Fundraising has now started.

We're taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front. We'll be trekking 100km following in the footsteps of those who fought on the Somme and Passchendaele battlefields during the First World War

We'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWI whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today.

It will be a physically and emotionally tough challenge, but we're doing it all for a great cause: ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. They support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.
