The Frontline Walk 2024: The Western Front

Matthew Booker

I'm participating in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front for the first time ever, alongside my friend Dave Keen!

This walk is a 100km trek along the historic Somme and Passchendaele battlefields from the First World War, starting in Arras, France and finishing in the Belgium city of Ypres.

I have decided to participate in this walk for several reasons, primarily I wish to honour the individuals who fought in WWI and WWII for their sacrifices, bravery, and the freedom that we enjoy today. I hold a deep respect for those willing to give so much of themselves while asking for so little in return.

Our family business, Kentec Training, is a Kent-based health & safety training company, and a large majority of our instructors are ex-armed forces and combat medics (including Dave), and this walk is in large part in honour of their own courage and selflessness. I also want to push my own boundaries and make a difference for today’s soldiers, veterans, and families in any way I can.

Your encouragement and backing means a lot – more than you’ll ever know, and you can show your support by donating toward my fundraising goal. Thank you so much for reading! Wish me luck!

My Updates

The Final Stretch!

Good Morning Everyone!

As I sit here, my body is screaming at me for deciding to complete both the Spartan Race and The Frontline Walk within one week of each other - but my mind welcomes the challenge!

I am extremely honoured and humbled by the amount of donations I've received from my family, close friends and my colleagues since I decided to join this walk just under a year ago.

Only £98 to go until we've met my target of £1250.00! Please help me reach it and get across the finish line!

Over £1000 raised!

Hello again everybody!

I'm absolutely blown away by the massive amounts of support for my upcoming Western Front Walk!

We've just broken £1000 raised! I want to extend my deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who has donated and shared to help raise awareness, you all honestly have no idea how much it means to me!

The challenge this walk poses is one that is both daunting and exciting, and for those of you close to me know that if you'd have told me two years ago that I'd be participating in it, I'd never have believed you - now I almost can't wait to begin.

I can't thank you all enough!

A Massive Thank You!

Hi everybody! We've raised over £600 in just one weekend!

I'd like to extend a massive thanks to everyone who has donated up to now, your support means so so much to me and really makes me excited to see this walk through to the end!

If you aren't able to donate, please just share on social media if you're able. Any support helps and I am so thankful for it. Thanks for putting your faith in me, I promise it wont be misplaced!
