ARNSIDE TO GRANGE- BAY GUIDED WALK

Taking part in a Cross Bay Walk is an exceptional way to enjoy the stunning beauty of the surrounding lake district. Crossing the sands with an experienced and knowledgeable guide is the only way to traverse the ever-changing flats and channels and this amazing experience is a must.

All are welcome to join us on a bay walk, however you MUST be able to walk at least 8 miles at ease. It is not recommended for children under the age of 5 to join a walk, unless being carried all the way by their parent / guardian.

Join the British Army on this award winning walk across the bay.

FAQs- on the day information

  • What time does it start?- 9am, walkers need to be there at least 30 minutes before, the walk cannot be delayed in starting.
  • Parking- Getting to Arnside before a walk: There are two ways to get to Arnside,

    1. Drive to Arnside, park at Arnside on the sea front which is FREE parking then after the walk catch the train back to Arnside for your car.
    2. Drive to Grange, park at Grange ( various locations ) then catch the train to Arnside.
  • Where does the Walk start?- Walkers are to meet the guides on the second slipway on Arnside Prom.
  • What do I need to bring?

    1. Cold / Hot drink
    2. Suncream
    3. Plasters / Basic First aid kit
    4. Snack- Sandwich / chocolate / crisps / fruit / cake
    5. Hat
    6. Appropriate clothing for the weather
  • Clothing- We recommend wearing a pair of comfortable trainers or walking boots, for the 1st 2 miles of the walk is along the headland of Arnside the terrain is rocky, muddy, sandy and wet. Once we meet the tractors the guide and most of his team of Marshalls walk barefoot across the bay. A hat is also useful as the weather can be somewhat different out on the bay.
  • Toilets- Toilets are at the beginning of the walk on Arnside prom please only use cafe / pub toilets if you are a customer there it is only fair.  There are also toilets at the finish of the walk located opposite Grange lido.
  • Can I bring my dog?- Yes, well behaved dogs are welcom. However, it is solely your responsibility, if your dog is missing, we cannot stop the walk to look for it so please keep it under control at all times. Sometimes there are sheep on the marsh at Grange so please dogs are to be on leads well in advance
